First start by applying strips of tape to a piece of vinyl approximately 4? x 7?, aligning the long edges without any gaps or overlaps.
Then, for each pair of earrings, you need six washi tape-covered strips of vinyl. For the bottom layer, cut two 1? x 3 1/2? strips. For the middle layer, cut two 1? x 2 1/2? strips. For the top layer, cut two 1? x 1 1/2? strips.
Lay the three strips on top of each other. Check the width of the earring. Cut the top corners at an angle, leaving a flat top in the middle. Punch a small hole in the center.
Next, trim the layers to your desired length and shape. Try angled or ribbon edges for more interest. Then, use scissors to fringe the layers with multiple long, parallel cuts. Make sure to leave the top 1/2? uncut.
Finally, thread the earring wire through the holes in the three layers to form the earring.
