Dipa Karmakar Indian gymnast made the country proud, by clinching the gold medal in the vault event of the Gymnastics World Challenge Cup in Turkey. After a 2-year long injury lay off this was the 24-year-old's first major event. Dipa Karmakar finished with the score of 14.150 to win the gold medal at the premier event. After becoming the first Indian gymnast to compete at the Olympics Karmakar rose to prominence. She had suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury after the Rio Olympics and had to undergo a surgery. On her return, she delivered a phenomenal performance at the tournament. She had topped qualifiers with a score of 13.400. Today, she became the first Indian gold-medalist at the Challenge Cup. Dipa was keen to make a comeback at the Commonwealth games, but she was excluded from India's squad. However, she came back strong to win her first ever medal at the World Challenge Cup. By finishing third in the qualification round she even qualified for the balance beam finals. Dipa managed the score of 11.850 in the qualifiers.
