At the Olympic level, Thangjam Tababi Devi became India's first judo medalist, claiming silver at the ongoing youth games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the finals of the women's 44kg category, she lost to Venezuela’s Maria Giminez. She hails from Manipur, lost 0-11, in the summit showdown that lasted a little over two minutes. After defeating Croatia's Ana Viktorija Puljiz in semifinals, Kosovo's Erza Muminoviq in the quarterfinals, and Yangchen Wangmo from Bhutan, 16 years old Tababi reached the finals. At the ongoing Youth Games, her Silver was India's second medal. In men's 10m air rifle competition shooter Tushar Mane clinched the silver, in which Russia's Girgorii Shamakov won gold and Serbia's Aleksa Mitrovic won bronze. India is being represented by 47 athletes at ongoing Youth Games. In senior or youth level, India has never won an Olympic medal in Judo. In 2014 Youth Olympics held in Nanjing, China, India had won just two medals, silver and a bronze, in weightlifting and archery respectively.
