72 year old man breaks Atlantic solo rowing record

1. A 72-year-old man from Leicester has claimed the world record for the oldest person to row across the Atlantic solo.
2. Graham Walters nearly missed out on the record after being blown off course just 10km from shore. He had to call for assistance from the local coastguard.
3. However, the Ocean Rowing Society, the official Guinness World Records judges for rowing, have confirmed that Walters will receive the record for the oldest person to row any ocean solo, as well as the oldest person to row an ocean more than once.
4. It was Graham Walters’ fifth journey across the Atlantic. His third solo – and after three months at sea, he’s relieved to be back on dry land.
5. His achievement has already raised more than £2,500 for Help for Heroes.
